Man found sleeping in car arrested on drug charges

Officers arrested a 19 year old man April 14 after finding him passed out in a vehicle containing marijuana and drug paraphernalia, according to the Crestview Police Department.

Two officers were walking through the area of Countryview Park when they found Zachary Tavis Layton of Crestview lying in his backseat, with his head near the passenger seat and feet hanging out of the rear driv Oakley Outlet er’s side door, according to Layton’s arrest report.

A partially empty bottle of Sailor Jerry rum and two unopened cans of Busch beer were in the front passenger seat along wit Oakley Outlet h the car keys and a backpack, the arrest report stated.

Officers smelled alcohol on Layton after he woke up. He took out the alcohol from his car when he was asked.

Officers asked to look in the backpack. Layton told officers it didn’t belong to him but eventually gave it to them to search.

A small plastic bag with marijuana was found inside the backpack, along with plastic bags, a plastic grinder, lighter, money clip, book of matches and an open package of cigars, according to Layton’s arrest report.

During a pat down of a cuffed Layton, officers found a glass smoking device, a digital scale, and a cigarette pack containing a “roach” in his pockets.

Officers searched the vehicle and f Oakley Outlet ound mason jars that smelled like marijuana, buds of marijuana and another glass smoking Oakley Outlet device, the arrest report stated.
